Bronze Statue
The Bronze Statues Of Old by Phoenix Delray
Commonly used back in the day were bronze statues, which had the unusual and desirable property of filing a mold in every crevice to give the statue its best possible detail. This is due to the metal expanding slightly just before it sets. Once the properties of this metal have been mixed, the strength and durability of the bronze increases dramatically and will last many years of weather. This will also give the composition of the consistency of ceramic before cooled and letting the artist use this to create dramatic effects to the bronze statues.
This one drawback to creating bronze statues back then, was that the value of the bronze for other uses was disadvantageous to the preservation of the statue. Many of the bronze statues that were made in earlier years that would have been considered artifacts today were used to make weapons in times of war. This is why almost all of them were used for this type of situation or just worn down to fragments. Great civilizations used to use this substance and worked with it to create art for the great leaders that were in charge. Huge sculptors would create life like statues that went to adorn the outer entrances and the facades of many of the buildings that were created back in the period.
The Chinese at one time perfected the method of casting called the lost wax method. In this case the artists would start with a full size model of the statue created out of some type of oil based clay. Once these molds are created then they can pour the molten in bronze into these casings to create a bronze statue of monumental proportions. Many of these statues that are created in ancient times had to be pieced together. This was no easy task in as there was no welding equipment for this type of metal and people had to fuse them together with molten bronze and then sculpt the area to look like it is one continuous piece.
Looking for some of these great bronze statues that are still created today can be found on the Internet. However, to go one step further, to find a bronze statue that is been created in ancient times can also be found on the Internet, but will take a little bit more time and work. Many of the bronze statues that are created today are used for landscape purposes and for fountain use. Sometimes, these bronze statues are put in foyers and of homes and entranceways to hotels to create a calming effect as you walk into their doors, either way their beauty and function stand out.
